Tom Karns was born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma
State University graduating with a B.S. in physiology in 1974. He received his
M.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1980, graduating in the top 10%
of his class. He completed a 4 year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at
the University of Oklahoma- Tulsa in 1984 and practiced there until December
1985. He then joined Stillwater Women's Clinic and has had an active,
general ob/gyn practice here ever since.
He has been board certified by
the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1986. He is a fellow of
the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the American
Medical Association and the Oklahoma State Medical Association, and has served
as chief of staff at Stillwater Medical Center. His interests include minimally
invasive gynecological surgery, general obstetrics, and infertility.
Outside the office, he is an elder at Grace Stillwater Church [PCA], co-teaches
a college men's bible study, and has served the last 15 years on the state board
of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He enjoys golfing, boating, and OSU
sports. He is married to his best friend, the former Marcia Blevins, OSU
graduate 1975. They have raised two children in Stillwater: Elizabeth and Bryan,
both of whom have master's degrees from Oklahoma State University. Elizabeth,
who is the mother of two beautiful little girls: Maggie and Greta, is a
homemaker and is married to Tim Nokes who is also a Stillwater High and OSU
graduate and is currently a medical resident in internal medicine. Bryan is
presently living and working in Tulsa and was a valuable part of the team that
hosted the Ryder Cup golf tournament in Kentucky in 2008.
