Laura Shaw, WHNP-BC

Laura was born in Flushing, New York and grew up in a suburban community on Long Island, New York.  She graduated with honors from the State University College at Plattsburgh, NY in 1970, receiving a BSN in Nursing. She worked as a public health nurse in Maryland and as a visiting nurse in Massachusetts before moving to Stillwater in 1975.
    Laura began employment with the Payne County Health Department as a public health nurse in 1975. She was accepted to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Texas SW Medical Center in 1989 and graduated in 1990. She worked in the field of women’s health, providing family planning and prenatal services at the Payne County Health Department until retiring in 2003.
    After retirement, she joined the Stillwater Womens Clinic where she provides prenatal and postpartum care, well woman exams, family planning counseling, and minor gynecological problem management.
    She is certified in women’s health by NCC and is licensed in the State of Oklahoma as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
     Laura is married and has 2 grown children.  Her interests include gardening, orchid culture, and reading. She is currently enrolled in the OSU Botanical Gardens Ambassador Program.
